7 Myths of Being ‘Fixed’.

7 Myths of Being “Fixed”

  1. Take the concepts of Movement, Strength and Pain Information home with you and work with them.
  2. Therapists can definitely help you with support, advice, massage, exercises and movement, all of which will help you on your journey. Therapists can help you to feel more pain free. Magic can happen and you feel brilliant after a massage, straight away. Very often. But sometimes it will take more – a commitment to regular exercise, to try to take some stress out of your life, to enjoy activities and do what most makes you happy, maybe even to do less (heaven forbid!), to recognise that doing a bit at a time is the only way forward.
  3. You are the  best person to help your self. Remember, your therapist will see you an hour, sometimes less a week. It is all the other hours in the that also count.
  4. You may need some support, information, exercises and helpful exercise progression but you may not need a clinician every week for weeks.
  5. They will want to listen to how you feel and what you feel and help you to understand possibly, why you may feel that way.
  6. And then the magical three components will work for you. a) Movement/Strength/Exercise b)Pain Information/Support  c)Massage/Care/Calm
  7. But you have to do it. You have to do your movement, walking, weights. As a client said to me, “I suddenly realised that unless I exercised and actually did what we had talked about, my leg pain would not just go away”.

There you have it.

As hard as it is, YOU have to do it. These things are part of your journey. But together, we can really make a difference.

So after all this – Why Come Back!

  1. If you come back weekly, two weekly, monthly, it’s because you love massage.
  2. You may feel ‘looser’, more mobile, no aches.
  3. You feel much better after it, you feel cared for and more relaxed.
  4. You feel more able to get back on track and more in control.
  5. Sometimes it’s a great opportunity to relax, chill, shut out the world.
  6. If you just want a massage with no advice or info, then that’s fine too. No exercises, no advice, pain science or recent research, just a calm quiet treatment.
  7. And that in itself can help you feel so MUCH better.
